Ferris Circle K International Organization Donates to Mecosta Count Parks Commission

Circle K International-Mecosta County Parks CommissionFerris State University’s chapter of Circle K International formally donated a check worth $666.30 to the Mecosta County Parks Commission on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The donation was presented by Amber Cumings, club president, and Ron Kanitz, club Kiwanis adviser, as a thank you and a token of appreciation for the general work of the commission and its continued support of Circle K International. The commission has allowed Circle K members to have access to the Paris Fish Hatchery for more than a decade as a location for a haunted house. The haunted house raises money for Circle K projects throughout the year.

Circle K International is a service organization for college students that was formed by Kiwanis International. The group primarily focuses on assisting local children and families in need. Ferris’ chapter was established in 2000 and has since worked with the Department of Human Services for local foster children, Wigs for Kids, Children with Hair Loss, Angel Tree and other organizations. Circle K fundraises for the Eliminate project, which focuses on the prevention of tetanus through prenatal vaccines. The chapter has been awarded five-star campus organization status and received recognition for its position among the top service organizations on campus.
