This Week at Ferris (April 28-May 4)

Ferris State UniversityThe Spring 2014 semester is nearing the end at Ferris State University. But, the activities continue as students hit the home stretch to gear up for final exams and commencement.

Coming up this week, from the University Events Calendar, are a series of events that offer a little something for everyone.

Here are some of this week’s highlighted events:


Monday, April 28

6 to 8 p.m., Michigan College of Optometry – Academic Service Learning 2014 “Spring Celebration”

6:30 p.m., OMSS: Multicultural Student Exchange

Students are encouraged to engage, exchange and learn about each other on Monday evenings in the Office of Multicultural Student Services in FLITE, Room 159. Check the UEC for more detail.


Tuesday, April 29

6 p.m., College of Business, Room 211 – Student Government General Assembly Meeting

7 p.m., Williams Auditorium – Sailesh the Hypnotist

Sailesh has taken the art of live entertainment and reimagined it in the 21st century. While performing numerous shows a week throughout the globe, Sailesh has become the busiest uncensored hypnotist on the planet. Numerous international media outlets have dubbed him the best hypnotist on the planet.

Wednesday, April 30

5:30 to 7 p.m. – Ferris Grand Rapids Graduation Celebration

7 to 8:30 p.m., Williams Auditorium – Torchbearer Ceremony

This event is hosted by the university’s Center for Leadership Activities and Career Services to recognize outstanding student leaders, student organizations, faculty and staff.

Thursday, May 1

11 a.m., North Quad – National Day of Prayer Event

11 a.m., FLITE – National Organization for Women Meeting

7 p.m., North Campus Quad – Candle Light Ceremony for Youth

Several organizations will gather in the North Quad to pay respects to children and adolescences that died due to a disgruntled person. We will pay our respects to our youth while raising awareness. Everyone will receive a sky-lantern to be released into the sky in honor of each deceased teenager.

Friday, May 2

Last day of classes for the Spring 2014 semester

4 to 6 p.m., IRC – OMSS: Multicultural Graduate Recognition Program

Saturday, May 3

10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Multipurpose room – FSU Dance Team 2014-15 tryouts

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in, not too baggy or bulky. You may wear whatever type of dance shoe you prefer or barefoot.

6 to 9 p.m. – 2014 Black Greek Council Step Show

Sunday, May 4

2 p.m., Club Baseball Hosts University of Michigan – Win Kellum Field, Big Rapids
