Assisting Big Rapids Residents Affected by Village Green Apartments Fire

The Mecosta-Osceola American Red Cross is accepting monetary donations for the victims of the fire at Village Green Apartments, a complex located in Big Rapids. Checks are to be made payable to the “Red Cross” and should include the phrase "Village Green Apartments" on the memo line to make sure that donations are directed to assist this specific cause. The fire occurred on Thursday, April 24.

The Mecosta-Osceola American Red Cross is located at 218 S. Warren Ave. in Big Rapids. The phone number for the office is (231) 796-6562.

Additionally, the Salvation Army of Big Rapids is accepting donations of household goods at the Corps office located at 325 Linden St.

Household items such as blankets, canned goods, clothing (of any size), diapers, nonperishable foods and toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and soap) are among the items needed most. Donations will be dispersed on Monday at the Corps office.

For more information, call the Big Rapids Salvation Army at (231) 796-5597.
