Fun, free events are on tap for Ferris State University students spending their summer on campus and residents of the Big Rapids community.
The university’s Center for Leadership, Activities and Career Services has teamed up with University Recreation and The Rock Café to present The Summer Series, which kicks off Wednesday, July 10 with Quad Chaos.
The afternoon of fun and games will include ultimate Frisbee, bags, golf and spike ball, plus cool treats from 2 to 5 p.m. in the South Quad.
“We want to provide relaxed, fun activities for students and community residents to participate in,” said Amber Balmer, coordinator of Student Activities.
The Summer Series continues on Wednesday, June 17 with a Chalk Mural Contest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the North Quad. Teams of two or more participants can become chalk artists and get popsicles while they work.
Dawg Splash Water Day on Tuesday, July 30 in the South Quad will feature an inflatable slip and slide, and other water games from 1 to 4 p.m.
The series wraps up on Wednesday, Aug. 7 with Bulldog Beats and Eats, a lawn concert on the South Quad. The Rock will be serving picnic favorites for concert-goers, who are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Cost is $9.25 for off-campus residents.
