Patrick Briggs was named Ferris State University’s new associate vice president for Finance. The announcement of Briggs’ hiring was made by Administration and Finance VP Jerry Scoby.
Briggs, who begins work at Ferris on Monday, July 15, has served as assistant superintendent and interim superintendent for Cadillac Area Public Schools since 2001. Prior to working in the Cadillac school district, Briggs served for two years as the director of Finance and Business Operations at the Saginaw Intermediate School District and, before that, for two years as the executive director of business and finance in the Buena Vista school district. Briggs also has experience working at two accounting firms.
“We are very pleased to have Pat join us in July and encourage you to welcome him to Ferris,” Scoby said of Briggs, who replaces the recently-retired Rick Christner. “Pat and his family will be moving to the Big Rapids area later in 2013.”
Briggs earned a bachelor’s degree from Albion College and a master’s degree from Saginaw
Valley State University. He is a certified public accountant, a member of the Association
of School Business Officials International, the Michigan Association of School Business
Officials, Michigan Negotiators Association and the Michigan Association of Certified
