The Ferris State University West Central Concert Band, under the direction of Richard Scott Cohen, will honor veterans and active military personnel during its 10th annual Veterans Day Concert on Sunday, Nov. 11 in Williams Auditorium.
The free event, which begins at 4 p.m., also will feature the Croton American Legion Post 381 Honor Guard and the Ferris Student Veterans Association.
“With this concert we celebrate the vital role that our veterans and active military personnel have provided and continue to provide for our nation,” Cohen said.
The West Central Concert Band will perform a special selection featuring music from all five branches of service. The band, which is celebrating its 20th concert season, consists of Ferris students, community members and high school music program musicians.
The concert will include participation by Ferris President David Eisler; Rick Kurtz, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; USAF veteran Mark S. Brejcha; guest conductors Dale E. Skornia and Dacho Dachoff; bagpiper Dave Stuart O’Neil; narrator Donna Smith and vocalist John R. King.
Ferris’ Military Support Group will be collecting donations for active military troops, including non-perishable food items, toiletries, baby wipes and socks. Cash and check donations also will be gratefully accepted.
