The Ferris State University Alumni Association is inviting all alumni to the 22nd annual golf outing Friday, May 11 at The Resorts of Tullymore and St. Ives in Stanwood.
The cost is $150 for per player, which includes 18 holes of golf, practice range, lunch and dinner buffet, commemorative apparel and sleeve, and awards. Players will be placed in teams of four. The golf outing, which runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., is a wonderful opportunity to interact with alumni, said Jeremy Mishler, director of Alumni Relations.
“It’s the chance to visit with the people who came out. This is an opportunity for people to come back and support the university and an opportunity to reconnect,” Mishler said. “Before and after the golf is my favorite part. But I do like the golf part, too.”
Ferris alumni travel from different parts of Michigan to golf with friends and to strengthen university connections. Graduates from the mid-1960s to graduates from the past few years will be in attendance. Last year’s event featured 54 teams, and Mishler hopes even more alumni attend this year to continue to support the university.
“This event will help strengthen the social network of our university. People have a chance to be updated on what is coming up for Ferris,” he said. “They will be informed and can help spread the word of what is happening at Ferris.”
Every hole has a sponsor, and attendees have the chance to win prizes that include a Jaguar, a LandRover or $10,000. Awards will be given for the low gross and low net men’s and mixed team scores. Additional prizes will be announced the day of the tournament.
“We hope those who attend have a good time and touch base with people they look forward to seeing. When alumni support this outing they gain a well-rounded and good experience,” Mishler said. “We hope they can come back next year and bring another team of alumni with them.”
This year’s golf outing is sponsored by 22 Ferris alumni and businesses. Mishler said
the event, which generates $5,000 to $10,000, will have a significant financial impact
on the Alumni Legacy Scholarship Program and additional Ferris programs.
Handicap information is required for registration. Alumni can register until the start of the event on May 11. Those attending can join the “Brag About Attending” group by visiting this website, here.
