The Ferris Alumni Association is set to host a Pre-Game Reception at Frozen Four

Alumni EventThe Ferris State University Alumni Association, in conjunction with the Bulldog hockey team’s historic trip to play in the Frozen Four, will host a pre-game reception in Tampa, Fla. on Thursday, April 5 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will be hosted at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel located at 700 South Florida Avenue in Tampa. The gathering is an opportunity for Ferris alumni, emeriti, faculty, staff, fans and families of the student-athletes to come together for fellowship in a celebration of the achievement of the hockey team as it prepares for competition at the Frozen Four for the first time in program history. On Thursday, April 5, the Bulldogs play Union at 4:30 p.m. in the first national semi-final before Minnesota faces Boston College at 8 p.m. in the second round. The two winners play for the national championship on Saturday, April 7 at 7 p.m. All games will be played in the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

“This is an exciting and historic occasion for Ferris. Bulldog alumni, students and fans everywhere are so proud to see our team reach this pinnacle and to have this opportunity to compete on the national stage in the 2012 Frozen Four,” said Jeremy Mishler, director of Alumni Relations and Advancement Operations at Ferris. “It is also very special that the Frozen Four is in Tampa as the state of Florida is home to the second greatest population of Ferris alumni outside of Michigan.”

The alumni event includes beverages, a cash bar, free food, door prizes and special greetings from Ferris officials. All event guests receive a free rally towel or fan sign for the games.

“The FSU Alumni Association is honored to work with our administration, athletic department, and our coaches and student-athletes to host this special event,” said Mishler, who is executive director of the FSU Alumni Association. “We believe that this event will help generate buzz and encourage as many of our loyal alumni and fans to come out to Tampa to celebrate our team and to see them compete.”

In addition to this reception, the Tampa Bay Local Organizing Committee has also partnered with Howl at the Moon at Channelside Tampa, the official Ferris fan headquarters Wednesday through Sunday. Alumni, family and friends of Ferris hockey can contact Tiffany Davies to learn more about hosting hockey parties of their own. Davies can be reached at (813) 514-9370 ext. 314. The Ferris Pep Band will be performing on Friday at the NCAA’s “UnFrozen Four” activities.
