“This is an opportunity for Ferris to give back to our veteran community,” said Adam Forbes, the university’s veterans program specialist.

Forbes will accompany veterans on the bus, which is scheduled to leave at 6 a.m. from Lot3 on campus and return at about 8 p.m. Parking has been arranged.

In addition to onsite interviews with hiring managers, veterans can get one-on-one career coaching, attend classes on resume building and interview techniques, enroll in benefits and services through the Post 9/11 GI Bill® and learn more about additional veteran assistance programs.

Ferris is partnering with Michigan Works! West Central to provide the opportunity for student veterans and community members who have served in the armed forces.

“We are very excited about this opportunity for veterans in our area,” said Michelle Herron, business services director with Michigan Works! West Central. “Being able to do this for our veterans, to help them reintegrate into the workforce, is something we feel very strongly about.

“Not only will this job fair put veterans in touch with companies that are hiring, but also help them translate their military skills into workplace skills that employers can relate to. It’s much more than your average job fair.”

Veterans interested in attending the event can reserve a seat on the bus by calling Michigan Works’ Big Rapids Service Center at (800) 398-7992.
