Student Government, Black Leaders Aspiring for Critical Knowledge, and the Diversity and Inclusion Office have collaborated to host the third annual “United We Stand, Divided We Fall” event on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. in Ferris State University’s Williams Auditorium.
This is a five-star event that is designed to focus on campus discussions of diversity and controversial topics that impact faculty, staff and students.
“It is important for people to attend an event like this one because diversity is a topic that can relate to all people,” said Erin Williams, Student Government Diversity Committee representative. “Diversity can relate to race, gender and culture. Everyone has to face diversity conflicts at one point in time whether it is in a classroom setting or in the workplace.”
The discussion will feature a representative from each college and several diverse campus student organizations.
Ronald Snead, chair of Ferris’ Board of Trustees, will participate in the event.
The discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session to provide audience members an opportunity to have their voices heard.
“We hope that after attending this event people will become more accepting and more aware of how we all treat diverse situations on campus,” Williams said. “The differences and the diversity of us are what make the world what it is today.”
