Ferris State University’s Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Zeta Beta Chapter and Delta
Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Zeta Rho Chapter will host Freezing for a Cause to bring
awareness to homelessness on Thursday, Feb. 9 from 9 to 11:30 p.m. on the Main Campus
Quad.
The two student organizations will collaborate to collect canned goods and donations
of clothing items to benefit those in need in the Big Rapids area. Donated items will
be distributed locally to Big Rapids organizations that assist those in need as part
of this community service project.
The participating students representing Alpha Phi Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta want
the event to impact the campus and local communities through this symbolic yet practical
effort this winter. Freezing for a Cause participants plan to work outdoors to collect
donations from campus and local community members.
Brandon Cole, a Ferris student and one of the event organizers, wants students to
consider donations as they find clothes that they no longer wear.
Anyone that wishes to participate is encouraged to join in and dress warm.
