Two key issues of interest for students at Ferris State University and other institutions of higher learning are student debt and degree completion.
These topics will be on the table during a forum hosted by the office of Ferris President David Eisler in the Rankin Student Center Centennial Room at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. Student debt and degree completion have been big issues in Michigan, and lawmakers have taken up legislation that is a direct result of concern over student debt and the length of time it takes for degree completion. Nationally, President Obama has spoken about these issues during discussions of higher education in theU.S.
The forums are designed to provide an opportunity to look specifically at these issues within the larger framework of the challenges that exist with funding public institutions of higher learning in Michigan and other states.
