Ferris State University students can learn how to get involved on campus and get acquainted with what the Big Rapids community has to offer during Bulldog Bonanza on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
Hundreds of students attend the popular event, which will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. in Jim Wink Arena. It is sponsored by Ferris’ Office of Student Leadership and Activities and the Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce.
Bulldog Bonanza is an opportunity for students to learn about the university’s 200-plus Registered Student Organizations, which range from academic major-based groups and club sports to special interest and Greek-life organizations.
Ferris service departments and representatives of Big Rapids-area businesses also will be in attendance with information on what they offer.
“This event gives students a chance to meet people who support student success on campus,” said Angela Roman, director of Career Services and Student Leadership and Activities.
The free event this year is part of the university’s inaugural SocialFest 2012 social
media festival and will include a Facebook photo-caption contest for prizes and a
live Twitter feed. The festival, designed to encourage students to connect with their
campus and learn how social media can benefit their future, kicks off Monday, Sept.
10 with five days of free events and activities.
