Ferris Joins Warm Clothes, Warm Kids Initiative

Warm Clothes, Warm KidsThe Big Rapids Jaycees are on a mission to help collect new or gently-used clothes to support WISE, Project Starburst and The Salvation Army.

Ferris State University has joined the effort that begins on Monday, Oct. 31, at 8:30 a.m. and runs through Friday, Dec. 9, at 5 p.m., by providing a drop-off point for items inside its Timme Center for Student Services.

Organizers are actively seeking donations of winter jackets, snow pants, hats, boots, gloves, scarves, wool socks, sweaters, footed pajamas or any other clothing article for children.

In addition to the on-campus location, in Timme Center, other local drop-off points include Applebee’s, Chemical Bank, Rivertown Realty, J.C. Penney, Kmart, Lake Osceola State Bank, The Sole, Hansen Collision, Buffalo Wild Wings, Pete’s Cleaners and Yeoman Photography.

During the months of November and December, organizers also are planning fundraising events with all proceeds to go toward the purchase of items for children.

To help facilitate the Warm Clothes, Warm Kids Initiative, Pete’s Cleaners has donated its cleaning services while Big Rapids Furniture has provided boxes.
