Ferris Announces 2011 Homecoming Court

2011 Homecoming CourtFerris State University’s homecoming celebration is approaching fast and it is nearly time for students to cast their votes for the next campus king and queen.

Candidates will compete to replace the 2010 royalty duo of Ashley Porter, who was queen, and Eric Cole, who was king.

“This year’s homecoming court encompasses a broad range of personalities that embody and represent the university as a whole,” said Danielle Leisner, king and queen selection chair. “We are looking forward to an exciting week of homecoming activities and can’t wait to see how this race plays out.” 

This year’s candidates for homecoming king and queen have been announced.
 

The queen candidates are:

Tiara Adams

Adams is being sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Delta Sigma Pi International Fraternity. She is involved in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Delta Sigma Pi International, NAACP, Black Greek Council and Human Resource Management.

Carlie Zervan

Zervan is being sponsored by Alpha Xi Delta and the Student Fashion Alliance. Zervan is involved in Alpha Xi Delta, the Public Relations Student Society of America, the Student Fashion Alliance and the Music Industry Management Association.

Karine Ma

Ma is being sponsored by the Health Care Management Association and Zeta Tau Alpha. She is involved in the Health Care Management Association and Zeta Tau Alpha.

Emily Kearney

Kearney is being sponsored by Alpha Sigma Tau and the Honors program. She is involved in Alpha Sigma Tau, the Honors program, Student Government, Student Alumni Gold Club and the American Pharmacists Association. 

Kayla Gordon

Gordon is being sponsored by Delta Zeta and Lambda Chi Alpha. She is involved in Delta Zeta, Panhellenic Council, Bulldog Pups and serves as desk services manager of Pickell Hall.
 

The king candidates are:

Nick Maus

Maus is being sponsored by Kappa Alpha and the men’s lacrosse team. He is a leadership development professional trainee, an assistant coach with the Big Rapids Rocket Football program and a student orientation team leader. He also is involved with Student Government, the Finance Division of Student Government and Phi Alpha Theta.

Xue Lao

Lao is being sponsored by Sigma Pi International Fraternity and the Graphic Arts Association. He is involved in Sigma Pi International Fraternity and the Graphic Arts Association. 

Jory Smith

Smith is being sponsored by Student Alumni Gold Club and the Pre-Medicine Club. He is involved in Student Alumni Gold Club, the Pre-Medicine Club, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honors Society, Honors and Hospice.

The official voting for king and queen candidates begins on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 8 a.m. through the Election Portal via OrgSync. Voting continues through Thursday, Oct. 13 at 11 p.m. Students must be registered in OrgSync and be a part of the Ferris State University Umbrella and Election Portal to participate.
