The Ferris State University Fall Jazz Concert is set for Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. in Williams Auditorium.
The 21-student band will perform big band swing, rock and Latin pieces. The concert is free and open to the public.
“There are very few chances to hear big band jazz in our area. The type of ensemble and repertoire make this show unique to Ferris,” said Matt Moresi, assistant professor of Music at Ferris and director of the Jazz Band. “There are so many diverse interests and activities here at Ferris. This is an opportunity to check out some fun and interesting music.”
Moresi hopes students and local community members attend the concert to support the students performing and connect with the music that will be played.
“It makes me happy when people are singing something that they heard as they are walking out,” he said.
The Jazz Band has been rehearsing for the fall concert twice a week since the beginning of the Fall 2011 Semester and will be presenting their holiday concert on Thursday, Dec. 8.
