Ferris State University is set to host a musical event that promises to get people in the holiday spirit.
Ferris’ Music Center is set to present “A Symphonic Santa Sunday” holiday band and orchestra concert on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. in Williams Auditorium. The concert will feature Ferris’ Symphony Band, West Central Concert Band and West Central Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Richard Scott Cohen, conductor and director of instrumental concert ensembles. Cohen, an associate professor of Music at Ferris, will have special assistance from Bruce Dilg, Kelly Quinn, Dale Skornia, Donna Smith, the Holiday Chamber Ensembles and the Third Avenue United Methodist Church Hand Chime Choir. This year’s concert will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mecosta and Osceola counties.
The annual holiday concert is a live presentation of holiday tunes such as Christmas carols, Hanukkah songs, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “Wizards in Winter,” an audience sing-along and the holiday classic, “Sleigh Ride.”
The concert features special appearances by Dynamite the Clown and Santa Claus as a treat for children in attendance.
For anyone interested in making a contribution to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mecosta and Osceola counties, donations can be made in the lobby of Williams Auditorium.
