Mignano Named Head Men’s, Women’s Golf Coach

pictureBIG RAPIDS – Mike Mignano, who served as the interim head coach of the Ferris State University men’s and women’s golf teams for the 2007-08 spring season, has been appointed on a permanent basis to direct both Bulldog programs.

“Mike did an outstanding job this spring as our women’s team placed fourth in the nation and the men’s squad just missed earning a national tournament bid,” Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic said. “In watching him lead both teams, it was evident to me he possessed a wealth of coaching knowledge involving the sport of golf.”

Mignano was appointed interim head coach in late February 2008 after the departure of head coach Brad Bedortha, who accepted the women’s golf head coaching position at NCAA Division I Northern Arizona University.

Prior to his stint as interim coach, Mignano worked as an assistant coach under Bedortha while also serving as an assistant golf professional and a PGM assistant at Ferris since June 2007.

“This is truly a dream job for me,” he said. “I enjoy being around the student-athletes and watching them succeed. I’m thankful for the opportunity to coach two outstanding programs at Ferris State University.”
