College Night offers students jump-start in college search

BIG RAPIDS - The Ferris State University Admissions and Records Office has collaborated with the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District to host an annual College Night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the Holiday Inn and Conference Center.

College Night is geared toward high school seniors and provides access to admissions personnel from colleges and universities throughout Michigan.

Admissions Recruiter Maria Schalk said high school students will have the opportunity to meet with college representatives from more than 30 institutions, including Ferris, Albion, Oakland, Eastern, Northwood, Madonna, Kendall, Grand Valley, Johnson & Wales and Wayne State.

Ferris and the MOISD, which is comprised of Big Rapids, Chippewa Hills, Evart, Morley Stanwood and Reed City Area public schools, and Crossroads Charter Academy, are hoping students will take this opportunity to learn about different universities' admissions requirements, financial aid, sports from NCAA to intramural and ACT/SAT/CLEP/AP testing information.

College night is free and open to the public. For more information, visit or students can contact their high school guidance counselor.
