What is the iConnect Event?
Each year, during move-in week in the fall, Student Technology Services hosts an event for on-campus students. During this event, STS technicians assemble at the IRC building and help students configure thier computers to use the Ferris network, absolutely free of charge.

Can I buy network equipment and software at the iConnect event?
Yes, wireless access points, switches, and ethernet cables will be available. There will also be a selection of Microsoft software products. All purchases will be charged to your student account; we cannot take cash or debit/credit cards.
I can't make it to the iConnect event, can I bring in my machine?
If you miss the event, you can bring your computer to the Student Technology Services offices located in the Rankin Center. Just bring in your computer from August 24-26th.
My "xyz" is not working. Can I bring my computer to the iConnect event to have it repaired/upgraded?
Unfortunately STS will not be taking in any computers for repair at the iConnect event. If your problem is networking related a technician may be able to assist you.
What does the iConnect software do?
The iConnect software performs a series of checks, program removals, and installations. This software was developed to reduce the amount of manual configuration of your computer.
Will the iConnect software work on my Linux based computer?
Linux users do not need to bring their computer to iConnect.
Is it possible for me to use the iConnect Software on my own Computer?
It is entirely possible for you to iConnect your own system. The software is available to Ferris State University students and is free of charge. If you wish to iConnect your system yourself go to the iConnect download page, available here.
I live off campus. Do I need to run the iConnect Software my computer to connect my computer to the network?
No, the iConnect process is only for computers that use the Ferris Network on the Big Rapids campus.
