Adding Ferris State University to your Trusted Sites List

Internet Explorer will block content from unknown websites and this may cause problems with MyFSU, Lotus Notes, and FerrisConnect. To ensure that the Ferris sites have the proper rights do the following few steps in your browser.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click Tools -> Internet Options
  3. Select the Security tab
  4. Click on the Trusted Sites icon
  5. Click the Sites button
  6. Uncheck the Require Server verification checkbox
  7. Enter *.ferris.edu in the first textbox
  8. Click Add, Ok, Ok

 

Making this change will ensure that all content is allowed from the Ferris Domain. If you have Service pack 2 for Windows XP installed you may also have problems with popup being blocked from these servers. To allow popup windows from Ferris sites do a similar procedure.

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click Tools -> Popup Blocker -> Pop-up Blocker Settings
  3. Enter *.ferris.edu in the first textbox
  4. Click Add, Ok

 

If you have a different popup blocker please refer to the documentation for that software on how to allows exceptions. These changes should ensure Ferris websites work properly. After making these changes you should exit your browser and launch it again. You do not need to reboot the computer.

You may wish to add other sites from trusted sources also be following the above steps and adding the site to the Trusted Sites list and Popup Blocker Exceptions list. Some other sites you may with to add are listed below.

  • *.ferrris.edu Ferris Services, Email, MyFSU
  • *.microsoft.com Windows Update
  • *.hotmail.com Public E-Mail
  • *.yahoo.com Public E-Mail
