Tegrity Requirements on Windows 8
Yes, it is possible to play Tegrity videos on Windows 8, but you must be running in
Desktop mode. Tegrity play back is not supported in App mode. App mode is also referred
to as the Metro Style, and can also be referred to as the Tile view. See Figure 1
If you are running the Windows 8 N or KN edition, you will need to download the Media Feature Pack. Once the file is downloaded, locate the file and double-click on it to start the
installation. Once you have the Media Feature Pack installed, you will see the Windows
Media Player tile on the Start page, as shown in Figure 2.
Click on the Windows Media Player tile in order to open Windows Media Player. When the application runs for the very first time, you are presented with the Welcome to Windows Media Player window.
There are two options to choose from. 1) Express Settings (Recommended) and 2) Custom Settings. If you are an advanced computer user, feel free to choose the Custom Settings option, otherwise select the Express Settings option. After Windows Media Player loads, close it. In addition, you will also need to have Microsoft Silverlight installed. If you don't have Microsoft Silverlight installed, then please visit the Microsoft Silverlight home page. Click the Download Now button. Once downloaded, locate the Silverlight install file and double-click it to start the installation. Downloaded files are typically saved in the Downloads folder. After successful installation you will see the Microsoft Silverlight tile on the Start page.
Now to play a Tegrity video, you must be in the Desktop mode. To enter Desktop mode
press the following key combinations on your keyboard:
Once in Desktop mode, launch Internet Explorer and play the Tegrity video. To return
to App mode, place your mouse in the lower left corner of the screen and click the
Start button, as shown in Figure 3.
