This online course is designed for you to take at your own convenience and pace. Two
phases are available. Each phase builds on the content learned in the previous phase.
Some may choose to complete only Phase 1.
This workshop will cover the basics of Blackboard and is designed for instructors who wish to utilize the learning management system for some aspect of the course. You can expect to learn how to navigate through the new look of Blackboard. The workshop will cover the basic course tools such as: Announcements, Syllabus, Learning Modules, Calendar, Contacts, E-mail, and Messages. It will also explore the Grade Center, adding a course syllabus, and how to customize settings.
Please Note: Faculty teaching face-to-face courses must complete Blackboard/Blackboard Basic training in order to request Blackboard course shells.
This workshop highlights some of the Blackboard collaboration tools that have the potential to enhance student learning. Participants will learn how to use groups, discussion boards, journals, blogs, wikis, and other collaboration tools. Participants will also learn how to create and use rubrics to grade collaboration assignments.
Please Note: Faculty teaching web-enhanced or online courses must complete both Blackboard Basic training AND Blackboard Collaboration Tools in order to request Blackboard/Blackboard course shells.
Video tutorials are available online for quick answers to questions you may have about
a particular feature of Blackboard. Blackboard offers online video tutorials called
OnDemand. We have also subscribed to Atomic Learning's repository of online training
Blackboard offers short online video tutorials at their On Demand Learning Center. You can find videos on Understanding & Building your Course, Communicating & Collaborating, Assessing Learners, and there are even video tutorials for Students.
Atomic Learning offers online video tutorials for just about every software tool available, including Blackboard. This subscription is available to all Ferris faculty staff and students. It can be used in a number of ways. Faculty can embed Atomic Learning within a Blackboard course for students to watch to get instructions on how to submit and assignment or to learn how to cite their sources using the APA format! People can access Atomic Learning training videos through MyFSU to learn how to use Blackboard among hundreds of other titles. Log in to myfsu.ferris.edu and click on the Atomic Learning link located on the MyFSU tab within the Login Links channel.
