As a follow up to the Houdini virus, we have set up a location where you can go for further assistance.
For faculty, staff and students that need their USB drives restored, our Student Technology Services will attempt to repair your drives at no charge if you take your USB drive to University Center (a.k.a. Rankin Center) Room 108 between 8 AM – 5 PM Monday-Friday. The door to enter the University Center is on the east side of the building (facing the Swan Building). You will need to check the device in with them, and they will repair it as soon as possible, depending on the number of devices currently being worked on. The repair needs to be done on some specialized equipment; therefore, there might be a slight delay, depending on the number of devices waiting to be fixed.
Regarding your personally owned computer, if you have one of the antivirus programs listed here and it if it is up to date, it will catch the virus. If you still need help removing the virus from your personally owned computer, you may also bring it into the Student Technology Services office for repair; however, there will be a charge for this service. If you suspect your university-owned computer might be infected, please contact the Technology Assistance Center at (231) 591-4822.
