Virus Outbreaks Spreading Via USB Devices - Nov. 11

There is a computer virus on the main campus that is spreading via USB drives (a.k.a. flash or thumb drives), including USB hard drives, that is wiping out the contents of the USB drives. We are working with our antivirus vendor to get a solution for this unknown virus. Until further notice, we recommend that you refrain from using your USB drives, and definitely do not share them. Currently, most of the cases have been in the Granger Building; however, students/employees may be taking their USB drives to other buildings and spreading the virus.

If you are using a USB drive and notice the content is suddenly gone or your antivirus is giving you messages every few seconds about "blocked connections," please contact the TAC at (231) 591-4822, so we can attempt to help once we get a solution from our antivirus vendor. We will let the campus know of any progress being made once we know more.

Thank you.
