Email Replacement Initiative

One of the priorities identified by the University administration and that is also documented in the University Strategic Plan for IT 2012-2015 is to "Implement an alternate e-mail and calendaring system" that would do the following:

  

  • Provide storage and flexibility, and support mobile devices
  • Provide an effective and efficient collaboration, communications, and calendaring tool
  • Consider hosting and/or cloud computing environments

 

Please join the Information Technology Services staff, the Purchasing staff, and your colleagues in an effort to evaluate and select a new e-mail, calendaring, and collaboration tool. We do have a selection committee in place; however, we want to allow all faculty and staff a chance to see what options we have, and also, provide us feedback to help us select the best tool for our environment.

The selection process began in Fall 2012, when a group of IT individuals gathered information about current options that would be appropriate for an educational institution of our size and our technical environment.
