Furnace Efficiency Testing Method

Furnace Efficiency Testing Method

The objective of this project was to develop a practical, accurate, reliable, and repeatable method for field-test methods and calculations to determine the capacities and efficiencies for residential ducted, gas fired furnaces and electric, split air conditioning equipment. The method used during the tests compares measured and calculated capacity results to manufacturer's ratings to determine the degradation in efficiency.

This project helps address an identified need for improved energy modeling and cost impact software accuracy and credibility. It also addresses an identified need to perform field evaluations of retrofit systems and existing systems.
