The student body in the School of Built Environment is actively involved in an extensive array of organizations. These organizations, on both the local and national levels, keep our students current in the growing dialogue and issues confronting our professions today.
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is the official student body organization in the Architecture Program. As the liaison between the students and practicing professionals, the organization provides close contact with the American Institute of Architects and its members as well as student organizations from other universities. Students attend the AIAS conferences such as: Quad, Grassroots, and FORUM - each provides the opportunity to learn about issues facing the profession, meet students and professionals, and interact with today's leading architects and designers. In addition, the AIAS represents the student body on various university committees, makes recommendations to the program, hosts visiting speakers, and organizes various social activities. All students in the program are encouraged to actively participate in this organization, ideally joining in their freshman year.
