Current Interests:   Police Learning Methods, Impact of Police Academy Training Methods, Problem-Based Learning, Police Perceptions of Operational Functions, Supervision and Administration of Police Organizations, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Leadership, Use of Force Issues, Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Violence, and Problem Based Learning.    

Additional Duties: Training Director – Law Enforcement Academy;   Firearms Range Master and Lead Firearms Instructor;   Faculty Advisor - American Criminal Justice Association’s Lambda Alpha Epsilon (Beta Kappa Rho Chapter) Criminal Justice Professional Co-Educational Organization.

Education: A.A.S. - Macomb Community College (Law Enforcement), B.S. - Wayne State University (Criminal Justice), M.S. - Michigan State University (Criminal Justice Management), Ph.D. (A.B.D.) - Western Michigan University (Higher Education Leadership).  Graduate of the Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute, the Center for Police Executive Development.

Experience: Nearly 27 years with the Sterling Heights, MI Police Department with progressive management and administrative experience leading to the rank of Lieutenant. Previously served in the following assignments: Commander of the Training Division & Field Training Officer program, Patrol Shift Commander, Detective Sergeant - Criminal Investigations Division and Youth Bureau, Sergeant - Road Patrol, Supervisor - Records & Computer Services Division, Supervisor - Communications Bureau, Detective - Special Investigations Division (Office of the Chief), and Patrol Officer.

Advanced Training: Police Executive Leadership and Development, Homicide Investigation & Supervision, Critical Incident Command, Crime Scene Management, Interviewing & Interrogation, Sex Crime Investigation, Computer & Internet Crime Investigations, Dignitary Protection, Employment Supervision and Management, Field Training Officer (FTO) Program Management, Police Firearms Instructor, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, Defensive Tactics (PPCT) Instructor, Police Problem-Based Learning Instructor Certification, Simunitions Instructor Certification, and Domestic Violence Instructor.
