A teacher of literature and composition for over thirty-five years, Dr. Douglas Haneline has been at Ferris since 1984. Except for two years
in Academic Affairs as Assistant Vice President, he has spent that time as a faculty member in the Department of Languages and Literature.
He teaches research writing, advanced composition, American and
British Literature courses, and Introductory Latin. He was President
of Ferris’ Academic Senate and chaired the Academic Program Review
Council for ten years.

Haneline served a four-year term on the Michigan Humanities Council, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. For twelve years, he was an AQIP and PEAQ Peer-Reviewer for NCA's Higher Learning Commission. He is a Fellow of the American Medical Writers Association and an instructor in AMWA's Core Curriculum Medical Writing Certificate Program.  He became President of AMWA in October 2012.
