The College of Arts and Sciences is the home to six departments that provides a learning-centered education that prepares students to contribute to a complex and diverse world.

Biological Sciences

The Department of Biological Sciences offers degrees in Biology, Biotechnology, and specialized concentrations in Environmental Biology, Forensic Biology, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Physical Therapy, and Pre-Veterinary Medicine. In addition, the department offers a variety of general education courses for students who need to take Scientific Understanding courses to complete their degree.

The Humanities Department offers degrees in History and Communication, with concentrations including Community Leadership, Public Advocacy, and Sports. In addition, they offer an array of minors that can enrich the educations of students at Ferris. The department proudly supports cultural opportunities for students, faculty and staff, and community members.

Languages and Literature

The Department of Languages and Literature offers degrees in English, Journalism, and Technical Communication. They provide a strong and broad-based education in writing, literature, linguistics, and modern languages through an array of majors, minors, and general education courses.

Mathematics

The Mathematics Department offers degrees in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics with specialized concentrations including Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Industrial Mathematics, Operations Research, and Statistics. In addition, they offer specialized mathematics courses support student needs in a variety of majors throughout the university.

Physical Sciences

The Physical Sciences Department consists of faculty from these areas: chemistry, physics, physical science, geology, and astronomy. The department offers degrees in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry Technology, and Pre-Mortuary Science. They offer service courses for students in several programs across the university. In addition, the department offers an array of general education courses for students who need to take Scientific Understanding courses to complete their degree.
