Health Information Management:
Bachelor of Science Completion Program Online

Ferris State University offers an opportunity for graduates of an CAHIIM accredited Health Information Technology (HIT) Program to complete the Health Information Management Online Bachelor Completion Program. Designed with the working RHIT in mind, the professional courses (MRIS, HCSA, COHP, and ENGL 321) are offered online.

General Admission Requirements:

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Graduate of a CAHIIM accredited Health Information Technology (HIT) program
  • Copy of AHIMA membership card showing Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) credentials

Unless the graduate has had a course in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding from an accredited institution, the student will need to successfully complete this course prior to graduation from the Health Information Management program. Because this class is not offered in an online format at Ferris, the student could take an equivalent course through an accredited Health Information program.

Some general education courses are not offered online at Ferris. Students would need to take the following courses at a Ferris campus or the transfer equivalent at another college/university. These classes include:

  • ACCT 201- Principles of Accounting
  • ISYS 200 - Database Applications
  • MATH 115 – Intermediate Algebra

Upon successful completion of the Health Information Management Online Bachelor Completion Program, the graduate will be eligible to take the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam.
