Just before the season one premiere of
, Hephner gave an interview
on ESPN L.A. about his participation in sports, in addition to his new
TV series. In talking about being captain of the Bulldog basketball
team and the camaraderie he felt at Ferris, Hephner called his time in
Big Rapids, “Some of the best years of my life.”

Catching up with…Jeff Hephner
Last November, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder announced the
appointment of Erin Brown, of East Lansing, and Lori Gwizdala,
of Bay City, to terms on Ferris State University’s Board of Trustees.
Brown is a strategic advisor and
project manager for Rockford-
based Holton Research LLC, a
position she has held since 2008.
She also is an adjunct marketing
faculty member at Michigan
State University. Previously, she
served as an adjunct marketing
faculty member at Grand
Valley State University, and for
the Amway Corporation, as
government relations supervisor,
industry and community
affairs manager, and corporate
citizenship manager. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in legal and
business administration from Grand Valley State University, and a
master’s degree in international management and marketing from
Aquinas College. She replaced trustee and outgoing board Chairman
Ronald E. Snead, of Greenville.
Gwizdala is executive vice president, chief financial officer and
treasurer of Midland-based Chemical Financial Corporation, where
she has worked since 1985.
Before serving in her current
roles, Gwizdala held the position
of controller. She is a certified
public accountant and a member
of MidMichigan Health’s audit
and finance committees. Gwizdala
received a bachelor’s degree in
business administration from
Central Michigan University.
She replaced George J. Menoutes,
of Flint, who served as secretary
for the board.
“Erin and Lori bring outstanding leadership and professional
experiences to this board, and I am thankful for their willingness
to serve the students, faculty and staff of Ferris State University,”
Appointees will serve eight-year terms that expire Dec. 31, 2020.
