Emeriti Board Bio: Brenda Vasicek

Brenda VasicekPast President

Brenda Vasicek has been President of the Emeriti Association for 5 years. She retired from the Department of English, Literature, and World Languages in 2006 after spending 26 years teaching at Ferris. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri, but raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1967 then moved to Sioux Falls College where she attained her BA in English Literature in 1971. She met her husband George while at Sioux Falls next returning to his home state of Michigan. Brenda taught part time in Reed City for 8 years while raising their son and getting her masters at CMU. In 1980 she joined the adjunct English faculty at Ferris and in 1987 was retained as tenure track faculty in the English Department where she taught writing. After studying for her PHD at MSU, she obtained the rank of Associate Professor and started the Crossroads Writing Project, a sight of the National Writing Project at Ferris. She directed the CWP until her retirement in 2006.
