Academic Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship is available to incoming freshmen in all majors with a minimum 3.00 high school GPA, that are also Michigan residents. *Preference given to minority students. A letter of recommendation from someone other than a relative must be submitted with application. An essay is also required - see application for details.

*This scholarship was available to students before the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) , also referred to as Proposal 2, became law on December 22, 2006.

The award amount is $2,000 per year and is renewable.

Application deadline: March 20

Applications for 2014-2015 will become available December 20, 2013.


Anne Szabunia Memorial Scholarship    Back to top

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must have completed 90 credit hours toward the completion of their degree in Health Care Systems Administration, a cumulative Ferris State University grade point average of 3.0 or better, and a non-traditional student. (Members or immediate family members of Southeastern Michigan Hosp. Purch. Mgmt. may not apply.)

The award is approximately $1,000.00 and is non-renewable.

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship are required to complete a FAFSA, be enrolled full-time in Respiratory Care, and be at least a sophomore at the time the student would receive the scholarship.

Students must be in Radiography or Nuclear Medicine to apply for this scholarship. Students must also be a Michigan resident, in the second year of the program, have a completed FAFSA, and a 3.0 or better Ferris State University grade point average.

Call Family Scholarship    Back to top

Students wishing to be considered for this scholarship must be enrolled as a full-time student in one of the programs in the College of Health Professions. Candidates shall have earned a 2.75 or above GPA and have attained junior level status. Candidates shall have demonstrated financial need as determined by the University's Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid. Participation in University co-curricular programs and/or community activities will be considered as part of the selection process.

The award amount varies per year and is non-renewable.

Dental Health Professional Dental Hygiene Scholarship    Back to top

Students in the Dental Hygiene program with at least 26 completed credit hours and a minimum of a 3.0 Ferris State University grade point average are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Recipients shall be full-time students from Wexford, Missaukee or Osceola counties.

The award amount is $500.00 and is non-renewable.

Ferris Foundation Need Based Scholarship    Back to top

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship are required to complete a FAFSA and be enrolled full-time in any undergraduate program. The scholarship is renewable provided the recipient remains a full-time undergraduate student and has demonstrated satisfactory academic progress as specified by the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid.

Frances Friar Memorial Nursing    Back to top

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must be in the second year in the Bachelor of Science Nursing Program, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicant must also be enrolled full-time. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Students wishing to be considered for this scholarship should be enrolled full-time in the College of Health Professions in the Dental Hygiene program. The scholarship will be awarded to a student whose cumulative GPA is 2.5 or better and whose GPA in Dental Hygiene is 3.2 or better.

This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time and/or part-time student(s) enrolled in any Ferris State University main campus program. The recipient shall have been out of high school for at least five years and registered for a minimum of three Ferris State University credits.

Jerry, Marie & Mary Ford Nursing Scholarship    Back to top

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship must be in the second year in the Bachelor Program in Nursing, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50. Applicant must have demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Scholarship is available to on and off campus students.

Mary Ann Hashimi Dental Hygiene Leadership    Back to top

This scholarship is available to Dental Hygiene students after the completion of their first year of professional sequence. Students must have a minimum of a 2.75 cumulative Ferris State University grade point average, be a member of SADHA in good standing, and demonstrate leadership participation in volunteer activities. Both full and part time students are eligible to apply.

The award amount is $500.00 per year and is non-renewable.

Mary Ann Hashimi Memorial Scholarship    Back to top

Students wishing to be considered for this scholarship must be enrolled full-time in the Dental Hygiene program. Students must have completed at least two semesters of professional course work in this program, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Must have demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA completion. First preference will be given to *minority students, including African American, American Indians, Hispanics, and those from the Indian sub-continent including Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Mecosta County Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship   Back to top

To apply for this scholarship, applicant must be enrolled in any program in the College of Health Professions. Applicant must also be a high school graduate from a school within the Mecosta-Osceola School District, such as Crossroads Charter Academy, Big Rapids, Chippewa Hills, Evart, Morley-Stanwood, and Reed City public schools. A minimum GPA of 3.0 must be held at the time of application. For incoming Freshmen, proof of GPA will be provided through official transcripts.

Woodbridge N. Ferris Scholarships    Back to top

Ferris State University offers several scholarship opportunities to first-time attending freshmen based on their high school GPA and their ACT or SAT scores. To maintain eligibility for the WNF Scholarships, students must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress per the policy of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
