This site was prepared to assist parents who desire more knowledge about the campus conduct process. Ferris State University and the Office of Student Conduct care about concerns that you may be facing as a parent. This site will provide you with some basic information regarding campus discipline and will hopefully assist you in conversations with your student. Our goal is to insure that the student’s and the University’s rights are protected and that the focus is on solutions that are corrective and educational.
We encourage parents to talk with their students about their expectations, hopes, and concerns regarding college, the risks of alcohol use, and the consequences of irresponsible behavior. Ferris will reinforce the message to make healthy choices during the student’s time here and provide students with resources to help them make informed decisions.
Every Ferris student has rights and responsibilities. Ferris publishes a Code of Student Community Standards that outlines the University’s expectations for student behavior both on and off campus. Students involved in incidents that could be in violation of The Code may go through the campus conduct process and face the possibility of sanctions that include an administrative warning, educational programming, suspension, or dismissal. Holding students accountable for their behavior in a respectful, fair way is often the best way to help them learn to make better choices in the future.
We look forward to seeing your student grow and learn through their
academic and social experiences at Ferris and believe that it is our
responsibility to aid in that process. If we can ever be of help to
you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
