The typefaces chosen to complement the Ferris State University wordmark are Avenir and Melior. Avenir is a sans serif typeface and Melior is a serif typeface. Generally speaking, Avenir is used for headlines or callouts and Avenir or Melior for body copy. Both fonts are used in all University stationery components. However, you do not need to purchase these fonts for your internal or routine communications. If you do not have Avenir, you may substitute Helvetica or Arial. If you do not have Melior, you may substitute Times New Roman. Where possible and practical, Avenir and Melior are to be used in Ferris State University publications and long-form items.
