Recycle Services

The physical plant staff goes around campus, one time daily, and takes the recyclable material from every bin. All of the recyclable materials that are picked up are taken to the Mecosta County Recycling Center.

Ferris State University offers a couple opportunities for recycling. Either you can use the recycle receptacles located inside some of the designated buildings or the large containers located outside strategically placed around campus.

What can be recycled at the Mecosta County Recycling Center?

  • Paper
    • Acceptable
      • White
      • Colored
    • Unacceptable
      • Plastic coated (ex. projector paper)
      • Soiled (food, beverage)
  • Newspaper
  • Magazines (can have a glossy finish)
  • Cardboard
    • Acceptable
      • Large boxes
      • Small boxes
      • (all boxes must be broken down)
    • Unacceptable
      • Pizza boxes
      • Wax coated boxes

Buildings that have cardboard recycling receptacles:

Outside recycle receptacles for everything except food waste and soiled boxes (pizza boxes)

Note: We ask that NO outside items be brought in to be recycled. Please only use the Ferris recycling receptacles for waste on Ferris campus.
