Preschool

The Pre-K/GSRP classroom at the Early Learning Center supports children in their individual development while preparing them to enter Kindergarten prepared to learn.

The Pre-K/GSRP classroom extends the growth, development, and self-regulation strategies learned in the Tyke Room, with more emphasis on learning concepts and academic preparation. The teaching staff encourages children’s independence, cooperation, and respect for themselves and others.

The teaching staff are supportive of individual children’s interest and learning styles; creating an environment rich in hands-on, real-world experiences. Children are encouraged to plan their daily experiences, allowed to explore those choices, and later to review the experiences they chose. This process, called Plan-Do-Review in the High Scope Curriculum, assists children in developing executive functioning skills in a safe and supportive environment.
