Research Integrity and Compliance

Ferris State University is committed to ensuring the integrity of research. Misconduct in research damages the honor of the profession and undermines the credibility of scholars, irrespective of discipline. Ferris takes seriously all allegations of misconduct and believes that the procedures for inquiry, investigation, and adjudication of any misconduct should be clear for all involved parties, while maintaining protections for the complainant, the respondent, and all witnesses involved. Researchers should become familiar with Ferris State University's Research Misconduct Policy and Procedures.

Investigators, including students, conducting research without the proper approval will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Established to ensure that all research, including teaching activities, involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules conducted at Ferris State University are conducted in compliance wit National Institute of Health (NIH) Guidelines

Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects Research (IRB)
Based on Ferris State Policy and Federal Regulations set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services, all research protocols involving human subjects must be reviewed and approved by the FSU IRB Committee prior to beginning research.

Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer
rocess of technology transfer involves innovation management (such as faculty invention disclosures), protecting ideas (patents/copyrights) and licensing inventions to companies, new venture creation and incubation, and economic development.

Safety, Health, Environmental and Risk Management
Ensure compliance, training, and safety issues do not delay the start of lab-based projects.

Shimadzu Core Laboratory
A multidisciplinary science research center containing over 2000 square feet of presentation, research, and collaboration space housed in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education.
