Costa Rican Culture

This course will examine the history and language of Costa Rica, while being immersed into the culture. Students will experience the culture first-hand by living with host families in Coronado. Course visits include the capital of San Jose, Braulio Carrillo National Park, coffee and banana plantations, Teatro Nacional, and many more sites.

Academic Program

3 credits - Hispanic Cinema - SPAN 343
3 credits - Contemporary Culture - SPAN 333

Students will be chosen who have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and are approved by the Study Abroad program and professor via interviews.

Cost

Estimated program fee of $2,000. Program Fee Includes:  airfare, in-country transportation, lodging, admissions fees, insurance & some meals. Program Fee Does Not Include:$100 application fee, Ferris tuition, required textbooks, passport, & personal expenses.  

Total Estimated Cost of:  $3850 

Living Arrangements

Program participants will reside in guest houses with host families.
