While these camps are basic courses, students are expected to have solid familiarity with a Windows PC computer environment.

Beginning Game Design -
Minecraft for Middle School

June 19-23 · 1 pm to 3 pm · $125
Ages 10 – 13 or 5th through 8th grade

Minecraft is more than a video game! You can create, explore and develop your own worlds and adventures. In this beginning game design camp for the middle school audience, students will design adventure maps, create texture maps, build virtual circuits and develop their own levels and machines. STEM skills such as creativity, problem solving, teamwork and project planning will be cultivated.

Digital Animation & Game Design I

2 SESSIONS:
June 19-23 · 10 am to 4 pm · $300
June 26-June 30 · 10 am to 4 pm · $300

In this camp, you will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling, texturing, lighting and animation. Plan, model, script and create game levels using a 3D real-time game engine. We will help you develop a 3D game level or 3D animation that will be presented on the afternoon of the final day of camp.

Digital Animation & Game Design II

July 10-14 · 10 am to 4 pm · $300

Animation & Game Design III is open to students who have completed Animation & Game Design I and II.This session builds on skills from the previous camp. Expand on lessons learned in the introductory class and have the opportunity to create more extensive game levels and/or animation.

Digital Animation & Game Design III

July 17-21 · 10 am to 4 pm · $300

This session is open to students who have completed Animation & Game Design I and II.
In this camp, you will discover how to create gameplay elements in the Unreal Engine 4 by using visual scripting. Scripting creates gameplay elements, modifies control schemes and creates puzzles within the game world. You will learn how to execute side scrolling and top down gameplay and modify and script elements to create your own games! No previous programming experience is needed but basic computer skills and a familiarity with the Unreal Engine is required.

On the last day of the digital animation camps, there is a special screening of student work created during the week, open to friends and family.

All requests for refunds or cancellations received in writing two (2) weeks prior to camp start date will be honored, minus a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than two (2) weeks prior to camp start date will not be refunded.

Ferris State University reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient enrollment with full refund.
