Here you will find documents that identify the DCCL program's mission, values, course sequences, faculty members assigned to those courses, development dates for those courses, and the locations for each session.
In this section, you will find several reference documents needed as you prepare to develop your DCCL course. If the DCCL course you are teaching has already been developed, then a review of these documents is suggested to ensure quality and continuous improvement. The document, DCCL Course Development, is provided to guide you with course development through the approval process.
Generally speaking, the DCCL curriculum is a byproduct of the program's vision, mission, and values. The framework for each course has been designed to address components of the program's comprehensive outcomes. This will be used as a basis to start developing your course content. The following items will enable you to link the appropriate instructional content to each course.
As you begin the development process, please be sure to consider these inputs and also ask yourself the questions noted on the Course Designer Questions document.
The DCCL director will review the Course Development/Enhancement Process document once you accept your assignment, generally six months before the course is offered. This process explains in detail expectation for the development of your course.
All new courses will be reviewed for acceptance by the DCCL program. This approval process constitutes three levels of review:
Level 1—Quality Matters Rubric will be reviewed by the Instructional Designer and the Faculty to ensure good pedagogy for online delivery.
Level 2—Course content will be reviewed by the DCCL director member and the course Faculty. Included in this review will be compliance to the learning outcomes and values as identified in the program documents, appropriate use of resources, and the integration of related academic theory and topical exploration to support the learning outcomes identified.
Level 3—The newly developed course will be reviewed in its totality to see that it is appropriately designed and meets the needs of the DCCL program. This review is conducted by the Program Director and the related Faculty. Once approved by the program director, the course can be loaded into FerrisConnect.
