Ferris State University Charter Schools Office is pleased to announce the hiring of Ron Schneider as a new School Support Specialist.
Ron brings 38 years of experience in public education to the FSU Charter Schools Office—29 years of which were spent in K-12 administration. He holds an M.A. in Educational Administration and a K-12 Administrative Certificate, along with a permanent Michigan Secondary Teacher Certificate. He came to Ferris in February 2016 from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), where he worked as an education consultant working with Michigan’s Public School Academies. Additionally, he provided specialized technical assistance to charter schools with priority status.
Prior to his work with MDE, Ron was the Superintendent of Crossroads Charter Academy in Big Rapids, as well as previously holding administrative positions in traditional public schools in Mount Pleasant, Spring Lake, Coleman, Brethren and Pineview. His responsibilities at Ferris include providing quality oversight and academic support to all FSU authorized public school academies that have been identified for intensified monitoring. This includes working with academy Boards of Directors, school improvement teams and data teams assessing academy academic progress.
