My process of selecting a college and an area of study took a lot of thought and research, but once I had chosen Ferris the decision to join Honors was a no-brainer. I immediately appreciated the private bedroom, semi-private bathroom, nice furnishings, carpet and ceiling fan; however, the experiences the Honors Program provided me with were the real benefits.
Throughout my years in Honors I was a member of several organizations and attended various cultural events due to the Honors requirements. If I hadn't been in Honors, then I doubt I would have done either. The combination of leadership involvement and cultural opportunities made me a well rounded individual and improved my marketability for pharmacy school and later in the job market. However, my greatest experience in Honors was the interactions with individuals I met along the way. Not only do I have several friends who I am still in close contact with, but I met my husband there as well.
I graduated from the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy in May 2006. After graduation I accepted a position with Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan as a Pharmacy Practice Resident. This one-year position allowed me a chance to get advanced clinical training. As I resident I was able to become active in developing policies and procedures and reviewing the formulary which impacted pharmacy operations. I enjoyed my experiences at Sparrow Hospital so much that I decided to stay on board after my residency and currently I am a Clinical Pharmacist at Sparrow. As a Clinical Pharmacist I will continue to play an active role in affecting the medication use process.
My husband Tim and I have been married for a year and a half and own our own home in Holt, Michigan.
