Writing Problem Solving and Researching

College graduates should be able to analyze the writing situation, identify needed information, and locate the appropriate information for their writing; specifically, they should be able to:

  • analyze their own experience to provide ideas for their writing
  • create ideas for their writing
  • analyze the context of the writing problem
  • retrieve material from various sources
  • analyze the moral or ethical implications of their subject
  • recognize primary and secondary sources of information available in their field and know how to read them
  • assess and evaluate information
  • use secondary sources available within their discipline appropriately
  • analyze and interpret primary data in an appropriate form
  • document primary and secondary sources appropriately.
