Timme Travel Grant Program

The Timme Travel Grant Program represents a portion of monies derived from an endowment established by Abigail Smith Timme and designated for the Timme Center for Teaching Excellence, now known as the Faculty Center for Teaching & Learning (FCTL). At the time of its inception, the Center was established to "encourage and support the enrichment of teaching and learning skills."

We are no longer accepting applications for Timme Travel Grants for travel between June and November 2015.  The deadline for applications was 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015.  The next application period will be in the fall for travel from December 2015 through May 2016.  Please watch your University Wide Notices for further information.

During this open application period, interested faculty should complete and submit the Timme Travel Grant application (Word doc) to your Department Chair or Head for his or her approval. Approval via e-mail is required. Once approved, the Chair or Head, in turn, must forward the application to the Dean of the College or other appropriate supervisor. Again, approval via e-mail is required. If approved, the Dean or other supervisor must forward the application electronically with his or her approval to Laurie Daniels (danielsl@ferris.edu).

We are delighted to announce that we have increased funding for Timme Travel Grants to reflect the increased travel costs.  We have two funding levels:

  1. Travel grants of $1,050 (formerly $700) for attending a conference symposium, etc., but not giving a presentation; and
  2. Travel grants of $1,200 (formerly $850) for giving a presentation at a conference, symposium, etc.
