Ferris State University men's ice hockey head coach Bob Daniels has been named as one of three finalists for the 2007-08 Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) Coach of the Year Award.

The six major league individual awards will be presented on Thursday, March 20, at the historic Fox Theatre in Detroit, Mich.
Daniels along with Michigan's Red Berenson and Enrico Blasi of Miami (Ohio) are the three finalists for the CCHA honor. Daniels guided Ferris State to a fifth-place 12-12-4 mark in the CCHA standings this season after the Bulldogs were picked to finish ninth in the league's coaches preseason poll. The 28 league points are the most by a FSU team since the 2002-03 CCHA Regular-Season Championship season. Ferris State is currently 17-14-5 overall this campaign and has advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2008 CCHA Playoffs this weekend (March 14-16) at Notre Dame, Ind.
Daniels, who's currently in his 16th season at Ferris State, owns the distinction of being the program's all-time winningest coach with a present 256-300-56 bench record. Daniels was selected as the recipient of the Spencer Penrose Award in 2003 as the American Hockey Coaches Association's (AHCA) Division I National Hockey Coach of the Year. He also was the unanimous choice as the CCHA's 2002-03 Coach of the Year and was tabbed as Inside College Hockey.com's Coach of the Year Award recipient. Daniels was also presented with the March of Dimes West Michigan Sports Award following the historic 2003-03 season for his coaching efforts.
The CCHA Awards kick off CCHA Championship Weekend on Thursday, March 20. The banquet will be held at the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit, across from Comerica Park. The banquet begins with a social hour presented by RBC Financial Group at 6:30 p.m. (EDT) with the CCHA Awards Program slated to get underway at 7:30 p.m. (EDT).
